“Uncle Stevie” – Entry Criteria - 2013
Any member wanting to enter the “Uncle Stevie” Competition for 2013 should take note of the following criteria and entry deadline.
- The trophy can only be awarded to a professional hunter who is a Full Member of PHASA and who has paid his/her current subscription fees in full.
- The trophy animals submitted must be taken legally in 2013 in fair chase in South Africa by the professional hunter submitting the entry and client as identified in the submission.
- The entrant must be present at the Annual General Meeting, unless through the most extraordinary circumstances he or she cannot attend, in which case the Executive Committee may waive this rule.
- To be eligible, entries must be submitted no later than (date to be advised).
- A photograph of the trophy animals, with or without the client, but not with the professional hunter, must be submitted, on the reverse of which or attached should be the following details:
- Species of animal
- The SCI/RW Measurements attested by an official measurer
- The client’s name (who shot the animal) and address
- The Professional Hunters’ name and signature
- The date the trophy was taken
- The location where the trophy was taken
- A short description of the hunt
- In the event that a member is found to have submitted any false information or attempts in any way to compete fraudulently for the award, he or she will be banned in the future from such competition.
Judging is based on a system of points:
- for rarity of species
- for position in Rowland Ward/SCI
- for difficulty in hunting
- for the overall quality and beauty of the trophy
Bow Hunting Trophy Entry Criteria – 2013
Any client wanting to enter the Bow Hunting Competition for 2013 should take
note of the following criteria and entry deadline:
1. The trophy can only be awarded to a client who hunted with a full member
of PHASA and who has paid his/her current subscription fees in full.
2. The trophy animals submitted must be taken legally in 2013 in fair chase in
South Africa.
3. The entrant must not necessarily be present at the Annual General Meeting,
however his/her professional hunter/outfitter must be present to receive the
trophy on his/her behalf, unless through the most extraordinary circumstances he/she cannot attend, in which case the Executive Committee may waive this rule.
4. To be eligible, entries must be submitted to the PHASA office no later than (date to be advised)
5. A photograph of the trophy animal, with or without the ph, but NOT with the client must be submitted, on the reverse of which or attached should be the
following details:
a. Species of animal
b. The SCI/PHASA Measurements attested to by an official measurer
c. The client’s name (who shot the animal) and address
d. The Professional Hunter/outfitter’s name and signature
e. The date the trophy was taken
f. The location where the trophy was taken
g. A short description of the hunt
6. In the event that a member is found to have submitted any false information or attempts in any way to compete fraudulently for the award, he or she will
be banned in the future from such competition.
Judging for the Bow Hunting Trophy is based on a system of points:
1. Manner in which animal was hunted:
a. walk and stalk – 2 points
b. ambush ie blinds, waterholes, tree stands – 1 point
2. Score levels based on both SCI and PHASA score systems:
a. highest score – 1 point
3. Compound bow / traditional bow (excludes crossbow) 1 point
4. Rarity of animals 1 – 3 points, judges discretion
5. One arrow kill, NO rifle assistance - 2 points
OR arrow kill with more than one arrow or rifle assistance – 1 point
6. Photo of trophy including bow used – 1 point
7. Maturity of animal hunted – 2 points
Total maximum 12 points.
