CITES CoP16 : KENYAN PROPOSAL
CITES CoP16 : KENYAN PROPOSAL:
Kenya has, withdrawn it’s proposal to stop the export of trophy hunted rhino horn from Swaziland and South Africa. They have based their decision to withdraw on deliberations between Kenya and Range States, who have agreed on common views and goals on the urgency to address poaching and the legal horn entering the illegal market by eg. Pseudo hunting, stealing from museums and safes, etc., etc.
Adri, who was there, told us that the few minutes during Kenya’s presentation was quite tense on all of them.
She also said it is important to mention that something like this does not happen without a lot of hard work and input. She has no doubt that our Government officials, scientists, economists, and ngo’s involved have all played a huge role in achieving this!
